Emmett Hollier is running for Mayor of Nederland, he announced his intent to run in June 2024 when current Mayor, Don Albanese, declared he would not run for re-election. Emmett's experience as a leader in his community and as a manager with his company has prepared him well to serve.
Emmett grew up in Groves and graduated class of 1979 from PNG High School, however, he now has lived in Nederland for 32 years. He’s been employed with Enbridge a natural gas pipeline company in Houston for over 35 years.
He’s father to two children, daughter JoLynn and husband Donathan & son Jake and wife Kourtney. He is a proud Paw Paw to his grandkids, Peyton, Grace & Jaxon. Emmett enjoys family time, serving others, riding his motorcycle, old cars, being a part of SETX Circle of Hope, hanging out with family/friends and spending time with his girlfriend Sharon.
Before he founded SETX Circle of Hope and the 100+ benefits that would come to follow, Emmett has been involved with several other organizations such as Assistant Director of Patriot Guard Riders – Golden Triangle, President of Nederland Little League, President of Mid-County Pop Warner Football, Board Member of Go for the Bell, and President of Nederland Babe Ruth League. He currently serves on the Nederland Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and is an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church,
Knights of Columbus, and the ACTS program in Nederland.
Emmett often talks about Servant Leadership and says it's an idea that we all are called to serve and lead in our own way. He has displayed a Servant's
heart by serving his community in so many ways. With his experience in serving as a leader in numerous organizations, he is best qualified to lead the Nederland City Council as Mayor. Emmett Hollier is ready to lead!
Emmett pledges to keep taxes low. He is very proud that Nederland, Texas has one of the lowest tax rates in the area. He is fiscally conservative and will work with Council to take great care as they make decisions on how to best
allocate tax dollars.
The safety of the community is so important! It affects seniors, families and businesses. Emmett will provide the support that first responders - Police, Firefighters and EMS - need to do their
job safely and effectively.
Another major role of city government is to provide services like water, sewage, garbage and assure the infrastructure is kept safe. Emmett believes it so important to build a plan that repairs, updates and maintains infrastructure.
A city can only grow in two ways: one by people moving to the city, and new businesses to open. Economic growth is what will keep Nederland's taxes low, and Emmett strongly supports incentives to relocating businesses.
